Family Fun on Saturday

Saturday was the first day in awhile that we were able to enjoy completely together as a family, so we took advantage of it! We took the kiddos to Maymont Park to see the nature center, and the barn. Maymont is so beautiful this time of year, and with a nice breeze on Saturday, it was perfect! We hung out under the big gorgeous trees, and played in the water.

After we were done at Maymont, we went across the street to Byrd Park to feed the geese. We got to see a momma goose and her babies! As usual, the geese were ornery. Make sure you watch the whole video, because Jeremy actually caught one!

That evening at home in the backyard, Jeremy set up the camping stove and we made ourselves some tasty smores. It was the next best thing to an actual fire!

Enjoy! Love you all, and thank you to God Almighty for a day of family fun!

Blogging Award

Thanks to T at My Personal Cafe for the lovely award! She's one of my new "mommy blogger" friends. No, me and my "mommy blogger" friends don't go shopping or out to lunch. We don't talk on the phone or babysit each other's kids. Most of us don't even live anywhere close to each other, but I have found that their are so many other mommies out there who share my hopes, concerns, struggles, and love of blogging. The mommy blogging community has been a joy to be a part of. The idea of this award is to pass it on to 8 people and include the following:

"These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers."

I am passing it on to these eight blogs that I have grown to love - true supermoms who's love for their lives as mommies is evident through their writing:

1) A Page in My Book

2) Pigtails and Puppy Dogs

3) Life Down Our Lane

4) The Craggy Moor at ourblog

5) The Furious Five

6) My Little Corner of the World

7) Memoires of a SAHM

8) Little House on Round Top

What Was That Again?

I just had two moments with the girls that made me do a double-take, wondering if I heard them right.

1) We were finishing up lunch, and apparently Caitlyn thought she had ate too much. She sighs, leans back on the bench, and says,"Oh, sweet mother of Abraham Lincoln." Wait, what?! Jeremy asked her where she heard that. She says matter-of-factly, "Toy Story."

2) After lunch, the kids were outside playing in the backyard. They are always pretending something, so when Kylie came in and said they were making a house, I didn't blink an eye. She then proceeded to ask for a glass of water that they could leave outside for the fairies, because they were "trying to get fairies to live in our yard." I smiled, but was a little taken aback by the seriousness with which she had just made that statement. I said, "Sweetie, you know that fairies aren't real, right?" Kylie looks at me and very defensively says, "Oh yes they are! Don't you remember when we saw some once a long time ago?" Oh, sure honey I remember. NOT!

Thought I would offer a window into my days with the munchkins. :)

Surprise!!

It's a party! To my complete surprise, my very good friend, Pam, organized a surprise birthday party for me after church on Wednesday night. As you can see, I was definitely not expecting this, my hair is thrown up in a clip and my makeup is almost nonexistent! The funniest part was when everyone yelled surprise and Luke started crying. Poor thing got scared! Thank you to Pam, and everyone else who made my party possible. It's so great to have friends who let you know your loved. Here's a few pictures Jackie took at the party. Love you all, and thank you to God Almighty for great friends!

The Big 3-0

So, I turn the big 3-0 today, but somehow it doesn't feel any different than the big 2-9! :) I told someone earlier, after almost 11 years of marriage, 4 kids, a house, and a dog, it's about time I turned 30! Happy Birthday to me!

Odds & Ends

The past several weeks have been quite busy, and just when I though it would slow down the calendar started to fill up again. I do have a few prayer requests that I am counting on my friends and family to help with.

1) Luke has been sick for about a week now. I took him to the dr Saturday morning and he has an ear infection. He is now on antibiotics, but his cough just seems to be getting worse. Please pray that the antibiotics will kick in soon, and that he will start to perk up. It's hard when they're this age and sick. All you can do is hold them.

2) We found out recently that Dupont is letting go 500 people at Jeremy's site. They are letting go 5 in Jeremy's department. There is only 11 people to start with. I keep telling myself that God will bless our faithfulness, but I am also aware that there are no guarantees, and these things happen. God knows!

On the good side, we have a huge praise! Luke has had a clogged tear duct in his right eye since birth, and the dr said that if it had not fixed itself by his checkup on the 27th, that they would send us to an ophthalmologist to do surgery. A few weeks back it seemed worse than ever, and I was stressing about what seemed to be inevitable surgery. Jeremy and I noticed though that over the past week and a half or so, his eye has stayed clear. It has had good bouts from time to time, but never for this long. We truly believe that God heard our prayers, and surgery is no longer needed. His eye looks better than it ever has! Another note: Luke is crawling everywhere! Today he disappeared on me, and I found him in his bedroom!

Love you all, and thank you to God Almighty for the Knutsons' prayer warriors!

Lack of Sleep

Luke has been teething something horrible, and on top of that is battling a cold for the last several days. Sleep has been scarce this week, to say the least. I thought I had been handling it fairly well, but realized yesterday that the lack of sleep was getting to me. While I was squeezing in a quick shower during one of Luke's power naps, I was hurrying, trying to get done before he started screaming again. I was scrubbing what I thought was shampoo into my scalp, but if felt very grainy. I realized that I had just put face scrub in my hair! At least it was a mistake with the shampoo, and not my toothpaste!

This is just one of the slip ups that occurred yesterday. I got more sleep last night than I have in awhile, so I'm praying that more sleep is on its way. Talking about bathing reminded me that I hadn't posted a picture I took of John the other night. He was enjoying a bubble bath. Since mommy's too cheap to buy bubble bath at our house, we use dish soap! It makes the best bubbles though!

Love you all, and thank you to God Almighty for more sleep!
