Headed To Wisconsin

It has been a very busy week with my cousin and her family here. We had a blast, and spent almost everyday doing something special. We spent a day in DC, an afternoon at The Playroom, and even a day at Busch Gardens. We are all tired and ready for some down time, but we will be heading to Wisconsin tomorrow or Sunday. We received word last night that Jeremy's grandmother was killed in a car accident yesterday. Jeremy was very close to his grandmother, and we all loved her deeply. Please pray for all the family as we grieve her passing, and especially for her husband. I will post when we return, but I'm not sure about our trip details as of yet. We love you all and thank you to God Almighty who has for now blessed us with these, and who has promised us life eternal!

Bomb Scare

Okay, here's the rest of the story! I did forget to mention yesterday that Jeremy and I went horseback riding in Gatlinburg, and Jeremy went in one of those indoor skydiving wind tunnel things. He had a blast! The horseback riding was lots of fun too. Anyway, onto Wednesday at court. I was very nervous about court. Although it was only supposed to be a short hearing , it was the first time we had done anything like this. To add to the tension, when we arrived in the waiting area at the courthouse, several family members had shown up and were already arguing with one another. Minutes before we were to be called into the court room, the guards came out and say that we have to evacuate the building! I thought... this has to be some kind of joke, right? Apparently not. There had been a bomb threat and we had to leave the building, but were not allowed to leave the parking lot. For two hours we waited while they searched the building inside and out, and then they brought in bomb dogs. During that two hours, we were stuck in the parking lot, and some of that time it was raining. Eventually, the police did let us cross the street to use the bathroom at the library. So I started out across the street with some of Dawn and Corey's family. The news was filming everything and everybody, including us walking across the street to go to the bathroom! They tried to interview me on camera, but I said no way. They finally decided to cancel our case docket and reschedule all those hearings. The problem with that is that our case is complicated, and involves 5 separate attorneys. To reschedule means that the hearing will be pushed back 2 to 3 months! It's just one more obstacle along the way for this case. At least Dawn and Corey are safe with us, and we will continue to take care of them like they were our own. Please pray that God works in this situation. Only God can make all this work out best for everybody. Love you all, and thank you to God Almighty who has for now blessed us with these.

No More Shift Work For The J-Man!!

SO much has happened in the last week or so! I'm going to split it up between two posts, so that you don't have to read a novel!! Our trip went wonderful. The kids did fairly well in the car, and even all slept at the same time for 2 1/2 hours in the car the last day! Our first stop was Gatlinburg, where Dawn and Corey met my parents for the first time. They did very well, because we had been preparing them with lots of pictures. That Saturday my parents took all the kids back to Nashville so Jeremy and I could have some much needed (and might I say, deserved) alone time! Jeremy and I headed to Nashville on Monday, and the whole family had dinner at the Rainforest Cafe at Opry Mills. We had a great time! The next day we went out and saw my parents new house that they are building, and Wednesday we took family pictures and had a nice family meal at my brother's house. My highlight? I probably couldn't even begin to pick one, but I was thrilled to get to see my nephew, Lanning, for the first time! Thursday we headed to Indiana (followed by my brother and his family, and my sister) to visit the Thomas side of the family. We were able to see my grandmother up and talking and in good spirits. What a blessing!! She is doing better. Thank you for all the prayers! We visited some more on Friday with my grandma, and then spent the late afternoon at the Markle pool, where I swam as a child. It was heartwarming to see our children and Andrew's children swimming and playing where I remember Andrew and I swimming and playing as children. Andrew, Andrea, and I got some good sibling play time at the pool. In fact, Andrea pushed me off a floating dock into the pool (which is more like a man made pond). When I went to retaliate, the lifeguard blew the whistle at me! No fair! Jeremy and Andrew had a great time on the water slide, and diving off the diving board. We made some really good memories that afternoon. That night was spent doing the old Thomas family tradition: playing cards! The Knutson Klan left Indiana Saturday morning, and after thirteen hours, finally pulled into our driveway. We were tired but happy, filled up with all the good memories we made on this trip. The best part of the whole trip was that Jeremy found out that he got the new position at work!!! No more shift work, no more working nights!! God has truly given us an answer to prayer! Well, VBS has been absolutely crazy, and keeping us as busy as ever. We had 106 kids last night though, so it has been well worth all the hard work. My cousin Jennifer and her family are coming in for a week visit tomorrow night, and we are looking forward to that! Tomorrow, I will post about our crazy court experience yesterday. Love you all, and thank you to God Almighty who has for now blessed us with these!

What Do You Do All Day?

A friend sent this to me, and I couldn't resist sharing it. Something about this sounds so familiar!

A man came home from work and found his three
children outside, still in their pajamas,
playing in the mud, with empty Food boxes
and wrappers strewn all around the front yard.

The door of his wife's car was open,
as was The front door to the house and there was
no sign of the dog. Proceeding Into the entry, he found
an even bigger mess. A lamp had been knocked Over,
and the throw rug was wadded against one wall. In
the front room the TV was loudly blaring a
Cartoon channel, and the family room was strewn
with toys And various items of clothing.

In the kitchen, dishes filled the sink,
Breakfast food was spilled on the Counter,
the fridge door was open wide, dog Food was
spilled on the floor, a broken glass lay under
the table, and a Small pile of sand was spread
by the back door.

He quickly headed up the stairs, stepping over
Toys and more piles of clothes, looking for his
wife. He was worried She might be ill, or that
something serious had happened.

He was met with a small trickle of water as it
Made its way out the bathroom door.

As he peered inside he found wet towels, Scummy
soap and more toys strewn over the floor. Miles
of toilet paper lay in a Heap and toothpaste had
been smeared over the mirror and walls.

As he rushed to the bedroom, he found his wife
Still curled up in the bed In her pajamas,
reading a novel. She looked up At him, smiled,
and asked how his day went. He looked at her
bewildered and asked, "What Happened
here today?"

She again smiled and answered , "You know
every Day when you come home from work and you
ask me what in the world I do all Day?"

"Yes," was his incredulous reply.

She answered, "Well, today I didn't do it."

Priceless!!

The Pill Popping Comode and Hashimoto

Yes, I know it sounds strange, and it was. Sunday night I was getting ready for bed, and I accidentally knocked an entire bottle of muscle relaxants for my back off of a shelf and into the toilet right as it was flushing. The toilet sucked the bottle down before I could grab it. This was not a small prescription bottle mind you! I'm not saying the pills fell out of the bottle into the toilet. The toilet swallowed the medication, bottle and all! Anyway, I thought for sure it would plug up the toilet in some form or fashion, but it didn't. Apparently we have a monster comode! :) Anyway, enough about the toilet..... I heard from my endocrinologist yesterday, and I do have Hashimoto's Disease. As I said before, it is an autoimmune disease and there is no cure, but the goal is to get it regulated with medication. The doctor thinks I may also have something called polycystic ovary syndrome, but he's sending be back to my ob/gyn to check all that stuff out. The short of it is, I have some hormonal imbalances that he doesn't specialize in, so he's sending me somewhere else for that. Please continue to pray for my Grandma Thomas, she has gotten worse, and we are all worried about her. Love you all, and thank you to God Almighty who has for now blessed us with these.

We've Got A Streaker!

Yesterday we spent the day at the Playroom. I've mentioned it before, the place where the kids play all day and I can just chill out. Anyway, we're about halfway through the day and John David has to go potty. Now, he has graduated to going by himself, and does very well. Well, instead of telling me he had to go, he told Dawn. So being the nice sister she is, she showed him to the bathroom, turned on the light for him, then left him to do his business. Meanwhile, I'm oblivious to any of this, and all the sudden I hear some of the other moms gasping. I turn to the sound of John David yelling "mommy!" Running through the Playroom, naked from the waist down, is none other than our little John David! Apparently he needed help getting onto the rather large toilet, and came to get me. We all got a good laugh at that one! Love you all, and thank you to God Almighty who has for now blessed us with these!!
