Here's a few odds and ends again. Seems like life is so much crazier during the summer!
- We are gearing up for the First Annual McKay Family Weekend, July 2-6! We are meeting my brother and his family, my sister, and my parents at Rock Island State Park in Tennessee. We are camping and we are all very excited about that! I'll be sure and take lots of pictures and videos, and post them when we get back.
- Luke has four teeth now, and probably five by tomorrow. It seems like all his teething is starting to pay off, but it has made nursing interesting to say the least! He is walking along the furniture, and standing for short spurts on his own. It looks like he will be walking soon!
- The other night, Jeremy and I were brushing up on our card playing skills (getting ready to cream everyone at the McKay Family Weekend!), and he was messing around teasing the kids that he was going to give them all new names. Caitlyn's new name was to be Gnarly Charley, Kylie was Hippopatomus Girl, and John David was Short Round. I'm not sure where exactly these names came from! Anway, Caitlyn was quite upset with her new name, and as usual was getting dramatic about it. Jeremy finally said that she could keep that name or she could have the new name that he had for her. She asked what it was, but he said she had to choose beofre he would tell her. Caitlyn picked the new name, figuring that it couldn't be worse tahn Gnarly Charley, right? Wrong! She was hencforth known as Hairy Mole Girl. Kylie picked up on this and continued calling her Hairy Mole Girl for the rest of the night, much to the annoyance of Caitlyn. Kylie was really picking at her. It was so funny to watch! I know, we're weird!
- Lastly, but certainly not least.......Yesterday we were at Walmart and Caitlyn asked me, "What is a retard?" She had apparently heard a boy at church say this and was wondering what it meant. She was talking quite loud and people were starting to look so I told her that we would talk about it when we got to the car. She though she had said something wrong so sge apologized. I told her that it was just something that mommy wanted to talk to her about in private. When we got to the car, I explained that sometimes people are born with a condition that makes their brains not work right. They might talk a little louder or have trouble understanding things, but that's just how God made them. I then used an example of someone we know, and she seemed to understand. As we were getting out of the car at home, John David said something about it again, and Kylie asked, "What does that mean?" So, I explained it again. Talking about their brain not working right, sometimes they talk al ittel oud, they have trouble undertsanding things, etc. I was trying to explain it the best way I could, and still be simple enough for them to understand. Kylie looked right at me, and with a straight face asked, "Like Caitlyn?" I couldn't help it....I started laughing! She was so serious! Caitlyn was quite insulted, and said, "Kylie! I do not have trouble understanding things!" She does talk loud often though! :D

The word retard has been difficult for us to explain too. In our case, they then asked us why God would make some healthy and some not. We told them God made Adam and Eve perfect, but when sin came into the world, so did disease, disorder and death. It was passed on to us along w/ a sin nature. Just some thoughts on that. Enjoy vacation!!
